Where Does Serrapeptase Come From?

Plenty of people have heard of serrapeptase, but few know where it comes from, let alone what it actually is. A little research reveals plenty of answers, so let’s delve into this a little further so we can see what it is and find out more about its history.

Where does it originate?

You might find it difficult to believe, but it actually comes from silkworms. More specifically, it comes from their intestines. Now this may not sound too appealing, especially when you think it is used by humans to provide many supposed health benefits. However, the more you find out about serrapeptase the more you will understand why many health practitioners have supported research into its properties and benefits over the years.

We say ‘over the years’ because this enzyme was originally located inside the silkworm in the Sixties. Since then it has been developed for use by humans, and is available on many websites.

What does it do and why should we be excited about it?

The enzyme itself has been found to act as an anti-inflammatory. You’re used to taking drugs to reduce inflammation, right? Well you can apparently do the same if you take serrapeptase. Many doctors have undertaken research with the enzyme over the years, and there have been repeated incidents where its anti-inflammatory properties have led to the improvement of various medical conditions.

One example of this occurred in Germany, where the well known physician Dr Nieper worked. He dealt with patients who had arterial and heart related problems, and examined the effects of giving serrapeptase in these circumstances. He was able to achieve good results in these cases, further leading to the idea that this enzyme – so innocently occurring in the silkworm – could have significant consequences for human life.

Why is this innocent and naturally occurring enzyme so important?

The various studies that have taken place over the years all seem to point to the enzyme being a potentially useful thing to use in some situations. It can apparently help to reduce swelling as well as inflammation, and has the ability to act on dead tissues within the body. Some cases have shown that it can act on cysts and reduce them in size, simply by taking a dose of the enzyme.

Of course, while serrapeptase is available to buy online and from health food stores and similar outlets, it is wise to do your own research before you buy it. Find out as much as you can and stick to the recommended dosage rather than being eager to take much more. If you do this you could end up taking much more than you should.

If you start researching this enzyme you will find many fascinating stories about it to reflect on. You might find it could help you with one of your health issues, whether it is inflammation from an injury or something more involved. Along with proper consultation with your doctor, you might benefit from finding out more about serrapeptase.
